Did you think I was a bit provocative in my latest blog and that simply to Shut Up , Move On isn’t always easy. I totally understand you and that’s why I like to introduce HIPPO time.
As human beings we are ny nature emotional and a life without experiencing emotional highs and lows would be a bit boring and bland and I know you’re not a robot who can turn your emotions on and off at the flick of a switch. So sometimes when you experiences things that really upsets you e.g Your partner dumps you, you miss your plain, you miss your job or a promotion, someone you love die etc. then it’s time for you to do the HIPPO before you do the SUMO. HIPPO means being just like a hippopotamus, just wallowing, feel sorry for yourself and so forth.
Hippo time is the brigde between shutting up and moving on.
TOP 3 Tips for HIPPO time:
1. Choose wisely who you talk to during your HIPPO time. Do they encourage you to learn from your experiences or do they remind you how bad everything are and how unlucky you are?
2. choose wisely how many people you talk to during your HIPPO time. the more times you tell your story, the more you replay and relive the negative experience and emotions associated with it, the more you stay stucked.
3. choose wisely how long you stay in your HIPPO time. Remember the longer you spend in HIPPO time the harder it becomes to move on. Some people can get used to wallowing in mud because it feels comfortable and comforting. But ultimately spending too long time in the mud og self-pity becomes unhelpful for you.
HIPPO time should never be a place of permanent residence. HIPPO is temporary. SUMO is forever and last a lifetime.
